Barristers and Trial Lawyers Iowa/New York/London

Friday, July 26, 2002

On the 25th of July, 2002, Nicholas Critelli III was "Called to the Degree of the Utter Bar" by the Treasurer of the Honourable Society of the Middle Temple. He becomes one of a handful of practicing attorneys in the United States to be dually qualified as an American trial lawyer and English barrister.

The Cup Board, the table at which the newly called barristers stand to enter their names in the Inn's books, is made from the forehatch of Sir Francis Drake's "Golden Hind," while Shakespeare's "Twelfth Night" was performed in the Hall in 1602. Five of the signatories to the Declaration of Independence were Middle Templars.

Mr Critelli is currently at work on his pupillage, in the Chambers of Anthony Barry, QC, 9 Bedford Row, London.
