Report from the Road
It's Wednesday so it must be Mason City. Your President, President-elect J.C. Salvo and Vice President Marion Beatty we are on the road for the Iowa State Bar Association Traveling Seminar. As I write this, I am at the Holiday Inn in Mason City getting ready to speak to about 60 area lawyers on the need for full funding for the judicial budget.
The Seminar has covered practical matters of interest to all lawyers. The proposed new rules of professional conduct have attracted everyone's attention. These rules will drastically change the way we practice. Concepts like "informed consent" and written verication of the same are new to our practice.
It's great to have the opportunity to go around the state and meet with local lawyers and judges and discuss issues that are of important to us all.
I am more and more convinced that Iowa Lawyers are leaders in the American legal profession. I say this because I have had extensive experience in courtrooms throughout this country and in the UK. Be proud Iowa lawyer, you are one of the best!
Next city, Cedar Rapids then Bettendorf.
Nick Critelli
118th President,
Iowa State Bar Association.
