PRESS RELEASE: Iowa Supreme Court to adopt Model Rules
May 28th, 2004 | By critellilaw | Category: Professional EducationProposed new Rules of Professional Conduct
After two years of study, the Iowa Supreme Court has proposed new Rules of Professional Conduct. For the last 30 years, we have been operating under the Iowa CODE of Professional Responsibility. Now it appears that we will switch to from the Code to the Rules.
The Rules will change how we practice, the nature of the attorney client relationship and how we manage and conduct the representation. Marketing and advertising have not changed.
At last Monday’s ISBA Board of Governor’s meeting in Dubuque, I indicated that we would post an analysis of the proposed Rules to the ISBA Website.
We will feature the Rules in next weeks Traveling Seminar. My schedule is, Monday: Sioux City; Tuesday: Osceola; Wednesday Mason City; Thursday Cedar Rapids and Friday Burlington. As President, I will be at all venues and will be happy to answer any questions that you may have.
Remember “Iowa Lawyers Can Do.”
