BabyBarista Outed!
Mar 31st, 2009 | By critellilaw | Category: Public ServiceYes, it’s true, the author of the infamous Blawg “BabyBarista” is none other than one of our past Middle Temple Anglo-American Scholars, Tim Kevan. Mr Kevan was a pupil here at CritelliLaw during the 1996 session.
For those of you not familiar with the BabyBarista blog, it’s a (purportedly) fictional diary of a junior barrister at the English bar. As you may expect, it quickly became the “must read” blog of the English legal profession. Within a few months it had been picked up by London Times. It’s been described as “part soap opera and part snark from an author who’s cheesed off with the legal profession.” It’s also more than partially accurate, which no doubt has contributed to its success.
Kevan’s outing coincides with the announcement that BabyBarista and the Art of War will be published this August by Bloomsbury. It also comes a few days prior to the start of the ABA TechShow in Chicago, which awarded BabyBarista the winner of the Quirky category in the ABA “official” Blawg 100 competition. Kevan has asked that Tre Critelli of our office attend the Blawg meetup on Friday, April 3rd, as his proxy. Tre won’t be hard to find, just look for the guy in the wig….
